Zayed National Museum establishes fund for research into UAE culture and history
أبوظبي في 15 يونيو / وام/ أطلق متحف زايد الوطني، والجاري تطويره حالياً بجزيرة السعديات في أبوظبي، صندوقاً بقيمة مليون درهم سنوياً لتمويل الأبحاث حول ثقافة الإمارات وتاريخها وتراثها، والإرث الخالد للوالد المؤسس المغفور له الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان “طيب الله ثراه”. وتتصدر أولويات الصندوق الأبحاث التي تتناول قيم الشيخ زايد وقيادته المُلهمة لمسيرة التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والثقافية في الدولة، إلى جانب تاريخ الإمارات وآثارها، وعناصر تراثها غير المادي، بما في ذلك التقاليد والحكايات والأغاني. ويُركّز الصندوق أيضاً على حركة التبادل الثقافي والروابط التي جمعت الإمارات مع دول شبه الجزيرة العربية والمحيط الهندي منذ عصور ما قبل التاريخ إلى الماضي القريب. وتُوفر المبادرة التمويل للمنح الكبيرة والصغيرة، بما يخدم المنظومة البحثية في الإمارات، ويدعم الباحثين الجدد. ويستقبل الصندوق الطلبات حتى يوم 15 يوليو 2023، على أن يتم الإعلان عن المنح المُعتمدة خلال شهر سبتمبر المقبل، علماً بأنه يمكن تجديد التمويل لمدة تصل إلى ثلاث سنوات متتالية. وتخضع الطلبات لمراجعة وتقييم لجنة تضمّ ممثلين عن متحف زايد الوطني ودائرة الثقافة والسياحة – أبوظبي إلى جانب خبراء مستقلّين، وفقاً لمعايير محدّدة تشمل منهجيّة البحث، وخبرات مقدم الطلب، والنتائج المتوقعة، وأهمّيتها، ومدى ارتباطها بأهداف متحف زايد الوطني. وقال سعادة سعود عبد العزيز الحوسني، وكيل دائرة الثقافة والسياحة – أبوظبي : “ إن إنشاء صندوق متحف زايد الوطني لتمويل الأبحاث يعكس التزامنا بصون عناصر ثقافتنا وتراثنا الأصيل. وتفتح هذه المبادرة آفاقاً واسعة للتنقيب عن كنوز تاريخنا العريق لاكتشاف قصص لم ترو بعد عن المغفور له الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان ” طيب الله ثراه ” الذي قاد دولتنا ومجتمعنا على طريق التقدم والرخاء. ويتماشى إطلاق الصندوق أيضاً مع جهودنا الرامية إلى توفير كافة السُبل لتمكين الشباب والأجيال الجديدة، وإتاحة المجال أمامهم للتعرف عن قرب على الإرث الخالد للشيخ زايد، ترسيخاً لفخرهم واعتزازهم به، وتحفيزاً لهم للمحافظة عليه واستدامته”. من جهته قال الدكتور بيتر ماجي، مدير متحف زايد الوطني: ” إن الصندوق يؤكد سعينا المستمر لرعاية الأبحاث في ثقافة الإمارات وتاريخها وتراثها من خلال تشجيع الدارسين والأكاديميين، من الخبراء والشباب، على التعمّق في جذور مسيرة الإمارات وماضيها، ومشاركتها مع العالم. ونتطلع إلى توفير هذه الفرصة لجميع المهتمّين بالمساهمة في إثراء رصيدنا المعرفي في هذا المجال، وتسليط الضوء على دور الشيخ زايد في بناء الإنسان، وتأسيس الدولة، وإبراز تأثير رؤيته الحكيمة على المنطقة بأسرها”. يذكر أنّ الأعمال الإنشائية لمتحف زايد الوطني، المتحف الوطني لدولة الإمارات، تشهد تقدماً كبيراً، حيث تم الانتهاء من هياكل أبراجه المبنية على شكل أجنحة الصقر، وهي السمة المميزة لتصميمه المعماري الفريد. ويعتبر الصقر أحد الرموز الوطنية في الإمارات، مما يعكس ارتباط المتحف ومجموعاته وبرامجه بالثقافة والتراث الإماراتي.
Zayed National Museum launched a AED1 million fund for research on UAE history and culture.
Funding priorities for the grants include research into the role of Sheikh Zayed in driving social, cultural, and economic impact; the history and archaeology of the UAE; and the country’s intangible heritage including oral history on traditions, stories, and songs. The grants will also focus on the UAE’s engagement with other countries within the Arabian Peninsula and Indian Ocean world from prehistory to the recent past.
The funding scheme aims to support both large and small grants, serving to further the research ecosystem in the UAE and empower a new generation of scholars. Researchers may apply until 15 July 2023, and grants will be announced in September. The funding is renewable for up to three consecutive years.
Applications will be reviewed by a panel compromising representatives from Zayed National Museum and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, as well as external subject matter experts, who will base decisions on criteria including the applicant’s research methodology, experience, outcomes, and relevance to the museum’s mandate.

Construction of Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Cultural District has achieved significant milestones, including the completion of its unique wing structures. The distinctive atria are designed to represent the wings of a falcon, a symbol of the UAE’s national heritage – indicative of the way UAE culture and heritage is interwoven into the essence of the museum.
